The “Lipu Taro-Rice Rotation Permanent Farmland Case on Ecosystem Protection and Sustainable Development” is launched by a team jointly composed of Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Lipu People’s Government in Guangxi Province Guilin city,Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Lipu,Lipu Meteorological Bureau,Lipu Ecological and Environmental Bureau,Lijiang Cultural Tourism Investment Co,Guangxi Guipin Cloud Information Technology Co. Ltd. The case has been listed as a case of the "Geographical Indications Environment & Sustainability " (Case 17).

The case is located in Xiuren Town, Lipu County, Guangxi Province of China. It is located in the Xijiang water system in the Pearl River Basin, characterized by a humid subtropical environment with plenty of heat and precipitation. Farmland is mainly composed of loam and sandy loam, rich in organic matter, fertile soil, and without environmental pollution. Developed water conservancy, the water quality of irrigation water sources is higher than the national "Irrigation Water Quality Standards for Farmland"(GB/5084-2021).The Lipu taro is a geographical indication, Taro has a long history of cultivation in Lipu, and taro rice rotation has become a sustainable planting method in the region.

MO Xingguo, Professor, doctoral supervisor, served as a guest Professor of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Agrometeorological Committee of the Chinese Agricultural Association, editorial board member of Soil magazine, short-term expert of the World Bank and the Global Environment Foundation on the Huang Huai Hai agricultural response to climate change project, member of the Water Resources Committee of the Chinese Natural Resources Society, member of the Chinese Geographical Society, member of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences and member of the International Water Resources Association. He has published multiple papers and papers (chapters) and has been a reviewer for journals such as Journal of Hydrology, Ecological Modeling, Agricultural and Forestry Meteorology, Hydrological Processes, Agricultural Water Management, African Journal of Plant Sciences, Biogeosciences, and important Chinese journals in the field. Jointly teach the course of Ecosystem Model in the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research field is climate and ecological hydrology. The main research directions include key process mechanisms of soil vegetation atmosphere system (SPAC), comprehensive models of ecological hydrological processes, and climate ecological hydrological interactions.
