The “Lipu Taro-Rice Rotation Permanent Farmland Case on Ecosystem Protection and Sustainable Development” is launched by a team jointly composed of Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Lipu People’s Government in Guangxi Province Guilin city,Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Lipu,Lipu Meteorological Bureau,Lipu Ecological and Environmental Bureau,Lijiang Cultural Tourism Investment Co,Guangxi Guipin Cloud Information Technology Co. Ltd. The case has been listed as a case of the "Geographical Indications Environment & Sustainability " (Case 17).

The case is located in Xiuren Town, Lipu County, Guangxi Province of China. It is located in the Xijiang water system in the Pearl River Basin, characterized by a humid subtropical environment with plenty of heat and precipitation. Farmland is mainly composed of loam and sandy loam, rich in organic matter, fertile soil, and without environmental pollution. Developed water conservancy, the water quality of irrigation water sources is higher than the national "Irrigation Water Quality Standards for Farmland"(GB/5084-2021).The Lipu taro is a geographical indication, Taro has a long history of cultivation in Lipu, and taro rice rotation has become a sustainable planting method in the region.
