The delegation from the IGSNRR-CAS visited Denmark and reached consensus on cooperation in the field of education and GIES

From May 27 to June 3, led by researcher Wang Shenglin, deputy director of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR-CAS), researcher Wang Zhenbo, director of the Institute's education department, chairman of the Institute's workers' congress/trade union, researcher Song Xianfang, chief representative in the field of water and environment of China Denmark Institute of Science and Technology, chief expert and team leader of the "Geographical Indications Environment & Sustainability "(GIES) Professional Science and Technology Service Delegation, researcher Liu Chuang, executive deputy editor in chief and editorial director of the Journal of Global Change Data & Discovery, researcher Liang Tao, professor in the field of water and environment of China Denmark Institute of Science and Technology, and Ms. Li Limin, secretary of the GIES Professional Science and Technology Service Delegation, attended the ninth joint China Denmark Research and Education Center. The conference of the Management Committee with the theme of "green transformation - opportunities for China Denmark cooperation" and the symposium on water and environment, He successively visited the Global Climate Center of the United Nations Environment Programme, Ghent University in Belgium and the General Department of Agriculture of the EU Headquarters, carried out academic exchanges, and discussed matters related to promoting cooperation in the field of geography education and GIES in the IGSNRR.

 

1. The 9th Joint Management Committee Meeting and Academic Seminar of China Denmark Research and Education Center

The meeting was held in Copenhagen, with Morten Laughesen, Executive Director of the China Denmark Research and Education Center, presiding over the meeting. Qin Jie, Charg é d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Denmark, Mikkel Leihardt, Director of Higher Education and Science and Technology of Denmark, Henrik C. Wegener, President of the University of Copenhagen, Thomas Bj ø rnholm, Department of Natural Sciences of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences, Zhou Qi, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and others delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. They spoke highly of China Denmark science and education cooperation and the achievements of China Denmark Research and Education Center over the years. Under the theme of "Green Transformation - Opportunities for China Denmark Cooperation", scholars from China and Denmark conducted discussions and academic exchanges in five subgroups: water and environment, nanoscience and technology, life sciences, social sciences, and food safety and health. Wang Yanfen, Vice President of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guo Zhengtang, Director of the Earth Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Academician of the CAS Member, Tan Weihong, Director of the Hangzhou Medical Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academician of the CAS Member, as well as more than 120 Chinese delegations from the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Beijing Genome Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (the National Bioinformation Center), the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, the Research Center for Biological Environment, the Institute of Biophysics, the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Brain Science and Governance Technology, the IGSNRR, the Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jinan University, Copenhagen University of Denmark, Aarhus University Experts attended the conference.

At the academic seminar in the field of "water and environment", Professor Peter E. Holm, Deputy Director Wang Shenglin and Director Wang Zhenbo successively made a guiding report on the seminar content and China Denmark cooperation. Their topics were respectively "Framework Foundation of China Denmark Cooperation - China Denmark Green Joint Work Program (2023-2026)", the development report of IGSNRR, and the progress of graduate enrollment, training, and international academic exchanges of IGSNRR. Afterwards, both sides held academic discussions on water and environmental related issues.

The main topics discussed include:

(1) Land aquatic environment and its management.

(2) Solutions for Urban Groundwater Management.

(3) Progress in research on terrestrial ecosystems.

(4) Innovation of research methods and solutions.

Through discussion and exchange, everyone unanimously agreed to implement the "China Denmark Green Joint Work Plan (2023-2026)" jointly formulated by the foreign ministers of China and Denmark in November 2021, based on the China Denmark Science Research and Education Center. Key areas of cooperation include: 1) Climate and energy; 2) Environment and water resources; 3) Green shipping and green maritime technology; 4) Improving the quality and sustainability of food and agriculture; 5) Improving public health; 6) Strengthening economic relations; 7) Science and technology. The IGSNRR, Copenhagen University, Denmark and Aarhus University reached a consensus on cooperation in the field of GIES.
