Siling Co Catchment is located in the hinterland of the Tibetan Plateau, stretching from 87°23′40″E to 92°13′49″E and from 30°03′22″N to 33°19′49″N (Figure 1). The total area of the catchment is 46,123.05 km2 and the boundary is 2,152.41 km long. It covers most regions of Xainza County, part of Amdo County and Baingoin County, as well as the edge of Xaitongmoin, Namling and Nyima counties. The northern catchment is famous for Tanggula Range and Chibuzhang Co, while the Xuelapugangri glacier stands in the southern part. There are series of lakes in the eastern and western of Siling Co Catchment, Zigetang Co, Baingoin Co, Rencogongma Lake and Nam Co in the east and Qixiang Co, Daze Co and Angzi Co in the west respectively. Within Siling Co Catchment, numerous rivers and lakes are interconnected and thus form an enclosed inland lake group. Siling Co, which is called Devil Lake in Tibetan language, is the largest lake of Tibetan Plateau. In addition, there are 23 other small lakes in this area, such as yochags Co, Geren Co, Zigui Co, Wuru Co and Co-e. The main rivers flowing into Siling Co include Za'gya Zangbo, Zagen Zangbo, and Bogcang Zangbo, of which Za’gya Zangbo is the largest inward flowing river in Tibet and originates from Tanggula Range and inflows from the north bank of Siling Co.
The dataset was developed based on the ASTER GDEM (V2) 30 m data, and verified based on the Google Earth images. The dataset is archived in both .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 1.08 MB in compression. The dataset can be accessed at: http://www.geodoi.ac.cn/WebEn/doi.aspx? Id=619.
