Abstract:
Online traffic-driven tourism activities may exert profound impacts on urban operation. Based on mobile phone signaling data and geographic tag data from ” “Xiaohongshu” system, the authors extracted internet-famous tourism indicators within the 15-minute accessible range of residents' residences in the Old City of Beijing. The note number from“Xiaohongshu” system with geographic tags was used to characterize online traffic, the number of non-local visits to represent long-distance sightseeing tourism activities, and the number of visits from other districts in the city as well as the ratio of weekend-to-weekday passenger amount to denote short-distance leisure tourism activities. These indicators were aggregated into Geohash Level 7 grids to form the dataset of online traffic and tourism activities indicators of the Old City of Beijing (2024). The dataset includes: (1) boundary data of the Old City of Beijing and the core functional area of the capital; (2) cross-sectional note data from the “Xiaohongshu” system in June 2024; (3) the number of non-local visitors, the number of visitors from other districts, and the ratio of weekend-to-weekday passenger amount for March, June, September, and December 2024; (4) Geohash Level 7 grid data within the Third Ring Road of Beijing. The dataset is archived in .shp and .xlsx formats, consisting of 25 data files with data size of 3.76 MB (compressed into one single file with 581 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published in Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol. 81, No. 2, 2026.
