Abstract:
Falkland Islands, also named Islas Malvinas, is 467 km to the South America in the South Atlantic Ocean. Its geo-location is from 50°59'45"S to 52°55'8"S, 61°27'30"W to 57°41'14"W. The Falkland Islands is consisted of 933 islands (the smallest island is 49 m²), including East Falkland, West Falkland, Weddell Island, Saunders Island and Pebble Island. The East Falkland and the West Falkland are the two biggest islands in the Falkland Islands, with area of 6523.92 km² and 4460.39 km², which are 53.89% and 36.84% of the total. The total area of Falkland Islands is 12,105.67 km², and the coastline is 7880.01 km long. The dataset is developed based on the Google Earth images and the referenced maps. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files, archived in both .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 73.8 MB (compressed to two files with data size of 31.3 MB).
