Abstract:
The Penrhyn Atoll is part of Northern Cook Islands in Pacific Ocean. Its geolocation is between 157°52′51″W and 158°3′23″W, 8°55′0″S and 9°5′5″S. The Penrhyn Atoll is a coral atoll, located at the top of a submarine volcano over 4,000 meters below sea level on the Pacific Ridge. The area of the Penrhyn Atoll is 10.53 km², the coastline is 118.31 km long. There is a lagoon 22.5 km long from northwest to southeast and 13.5 km wide from northeast to southwest, surrounding by a series of islands and islets. They are: Tokerau, Painko islets in northern: Takuua, Veseru, tuirai, Pokerere, Kavea, Temata, Patanga, Tepuka in eastern; Ahu a Miria islet in southestern; Atutahi, Moturakina and Atiati islets in southern; Mangarongaro islet in southwestern; Moananui islet in western; Matunga and Tekasi islets in northwestern. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 23 data files and archived in the .kmz and shp data format with the data size of 1.40 MB (Compressed to 596 KB in three files).
