Abstract:
Moresby Island, located in the western of Canada and northeast edge of the Pacific Ocean, is the second largest island in the Queen Charlotte Islands. To the northwest, it is only 45 m adjacent to Graham Island, the largest island in the Queen Charlotte Islands, and 134.23 km separated from the mainland by Hecate Strait. The island is administrated by the British Columbia, Canada. The geo-location of the Moresby Island is between 52°07′05″N -53°16′03″N, 132°35′47″W -130°59'56″W. The island extends from northwest to southeast with about 133 km long. The total area of the Moresby Island calculated based on Albers projection is 2680.38 km², and the coastline calculated based on Lambert projection is 1335.95 km long. In the northeast corner of the island, there is a major settlement of Sandspit, with an airport nearby. The dataset is developed based on the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset based on Google Earth images (2015), combined with maps of Canada. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, consists of 25 data files with data size of 7.47 MB (compressed to three data files with 3.18 MB).
