Abstract:
Bhutan is located on the southern slope of the eastern section of the Himalayas. Based on ASTER GDEM V003 data, the east-west distance is about 334 km, and the north-south is about 171 km in Bhutan. It was high in the north, and low in the south. The lowest point is located in the Manas River in the southeastern Bhutan, with an elevation of 19 m. The highest point is on Mt. Chura Kang, with an elevation of 7525 m. The elevation in most region has increased from 500 m to 5000 meters, with an elevation gradient change of 43.9 m/km, which makes it one of the countries with the largest elevation gradient changes in the world. The elevation in Bhutan was divided into 16 types. The area with an elevation between 500 m and 5000 m is the largest, accounting for 90.95% of the total area; the area with elevation below 500 m accounts for 4.08%; and above 5000 m accounts for 4.97%. The dataset is archived in .tif format, and consists of 6 data files with data size of 131 MB (Compressed to one file with 2.23 MB).
