Abstract:

The climate of Qingzang Plateau is influenced by three major circulation systems: the westerlies, monsoon systems, and local circulations. However, these circulations affect different regions of the plateau to varying degrees, resulting in specific precipitation distribution patterns. Based on existing research on plateau precipitation tracing, the authors established a distribution net of grids by selecting different cells across the plateau, choosing one grid cell each from the east, west, south, north, and center of the plateau, to conduct precipitation tracing at the grid scale. The moisture tracking model uses ERA5 reanalysis data, GPCP precipitation, and GLEAM evaporation as data drivers. Verification was performed through comparative experiments, ultimately generating monthly-scale precipitation source data for the five grid cells (east, west, south, north, and center) of the plateau. The dataset includes: (1) 5 grid cells’ locations; (2) monthly moisture source data for precipitation at each grid cell from 2011 to 2020, with a spatial resolution of 1°x1°, unit: mm/month; (3) monthly precipitation data for each grid cell from 2011 to 2020, unit: mm/month. The dataset is archived at .nc, .tif, and .xlsx data formats, consisted of 7 data files, with a data size of 131 MB (compressed to 1 file with 98.8 MB). The research findings based on this dataset was published in the Journal of Hydrology in Vol. 628, 2023.
