Abstract:

According to "Haze Observation and Forecast Grade" (QXT113-2010), daily haze data was rebuilt and standardized based on daily visibility, relative humidity and weather phenomenon (haze and light fog) data from 76 meteorological stations from 1961 to 2013 in Hubei province, China. Then a grade evaluation model for large scale persistent haze events was built and corresponding indexes were calculated. Temporal and spatial characteristics of haze days and large scale heavy haze events were also analyzed. The Yearly Standardized Dataset of Haze Events in Hubei Province, China (1961 – 2013) is consisted of: (1). Statistics data of haze days and haze events: including a) statistics of annual haze days from 1961 to 2013 in Hubei province, China; b) seasonal haze days from 1961 to 2013 based on standardized data in Hubei Province, China; c) the frequency and maximum consecutive days of large-scale heavy haze events in Hubei province, China. (2) Spatial distribution of average haze days from 1961 to 2013 in Hubei province, China. (3) Spatial distribution of average haze days based on standardized data from 1961 to 2013 in Hubei province, China. (4) Spatial distribution of average haze days based on the difference of original data and standardized data in Hubei province from 1961 to 2013. (5) Spatial distribution of accumulated large-scale heavy haze events in Hubei province from 1961 to 2013. The dataset is archived in .xls and .tif data formats, the raster data is at 10 km resolution. The dataset is consisted of 5 data files with data size of 561 KB (compressed into one data package with the data size of 145 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published in Journal of Meteorology and Environment, Vol.32, No 1, 2016.
