Abstract:

Authors took 9 high mountains as experimental plots in the eastern of Loess Plateau in Shanxi Province of China from July to August in 2016. At each mountain, a typical subalpine meadow was chosen for the survey on species diversity and biomass at the plant community level. In each plot, six quadrats with a size of 1 m² were designed for measuring the height, abundance, coverage, and frequency of each plant species, and then indices of α-diversity were calculated. Then in order to calculate the indices of β-diversity and γ-diversity, latitude and longitude were divided into five gradient belts according to the intervals of 0.5° and 0.45°, respectively, and altitude was divided into six gradient belts according to the interval of 100 m. At last, five quadrats were chosen from the six quadrats of species diversity survey and were used to survey plant biomass. At the middle position of biomass quadrats, subquadrats with a size of 0.2 m x 0.2 m were designed for measure aboveground biomass and belowground biomass. This dataset includes: (1) geo-location of experimental plots; (2) indices of α-diversity in subalpine Meadows; (3) the indices of β-diversity in subalpine Meadows; (4) indices of γ-diversity in subalpine Meadows; (5) indices of biomass in subalpine Meadows; (6) α-diversity and biomass in subalpine Meadows. The dataset is archived in .shp and .xlsx data formats, it consists of 9 data files with data size of 41.2 KB (Compressed into one single file with 33.6 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published in the journal of PLoS ONE, Vol. 14, No.2, 2019.Browse
