Based on the scientific and technological innovation for supporting the black earth environment, the authors’ team initialed to establish the agriculture-ecosystem observation stations (AEOS) covering the black earth area in Northeast of China in 2021. As the first package, 27 automatic agricultural ecological observation stations in Qiqihar (Heilongjiang Province), Panshi and Lishu (Jilin Province), Dahewan, Hulunbuir (Inner Mongolia) were established. As the part of the system, the intelligent observation system has the functions of multi-sensor data real-time transmission, digital image automatic processing, storage and statistical analysis. The observation stations have the IOT sensing functions, which can monitor the vegetation growth, meteorological condition, and air quality and soil parameter. The system provides the real-time data collection and wireless transmission of 10 types of observation data, including air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, wind speed, luminance, precipitation, soil temperature, soil moisture, visible images and near-infrared images of crops. The time resolution of the observation data of meteorological conditions and soil parameters is 30 minutes. The frequency of acquisition and transmission for the images is 5 times/day (collect data every 2 hours from 8:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m., the frequency can be adjusted as required). The dataset includes: (1) geo-location of the sample areas and observation stations; (2) climate and soil observation data; (3) the video images of typical crop growth process. The dataset is archived in .shp, .xlsx, and .gif data formats, and consists of 45 data files with data size of 30.4 MB (Compressed into one single file with 30.1 MB).
