Abstract：
The British Isles is located in the northwest of Europe, separated from the mainland of Europe by English Channel and Strait of Dover in the southeast. Its geo-location is 49°51′48″N - 60°50′46″N, 10°40′53″W - 1°45′46″E. There are 11,918 islands in the British Isles, including small islands, isles and independent rocks with area bigger than 10m². The biggest island of the British Isles is the Great Britain Island, its area is 219,126.00 km² and its coastline is 13,197.60 km. The second one is the Ireland with the area of 83,473.40 km² and coastline of 7,261.43 km. In addition, there are some small islands including the Isles of Scilly in the southwest, the Isle of Wight in the south, the Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands in the north, the Hebrides in the northwest, the Isle of Anglesey in the west. The total area of the British Isles is 315,813.97 km² and the total coastline is 35,152.00 km. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files and archived in the .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 244 MB (Compressed to 101 MB in two files).
