Abstract:
New Siberian Island (Novosibirsk) is located in Northeast Asia, west of East Siberian Sea and along the coast of the Arctic Ocean. It is part of the Anzhu Islands, subgroup of the New Siberian Islands. It is 265 km separated from the mainland of the Asia in its southwest, and 26 km separated from the Kotelny Island (including Bunge Island and Faddeyevsky Island) by the Blagoveshchensky Strait. Its geo-location is between 74°43'39"N and 75°35'19"N, 146°07'02"E and 150°57'59"E. New Siberian Island belongs to the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic of the Russian Federation. The total area of New Siberian Island is 6215.99 km² based on Albers projection and the coastline is 788.42 km based on Lambert projection. The island mostly locates in the Arctic tundra zone, with a cold climate, sparsely inhabited. The dataset is developed based on Global multiple scale shorelines dataset based on Google earth images (2015), combined with Russia maps and archived in .kmz and .shp data formats. The dataset consists of 17 data files with data size of 0.98 MB (compressed to 2 files with 686 KB).
