Abstract:
West Falkland, also called Gran Malvina, is one island in the Falkland Islands (also called Islas Malvinas) in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is East Falkland (Isla Soledad) by Falkland Sound in its east. It is located at the east of the continent of South America, and the geo-location is between 51°20′8″S and 52°15′36″S, 61°4′48″W and 59°11′23″W. The area of the West Falkland is 4460.39 km² based on the Albers projection, and the coastline is 2112.97 km long based on the Lambert projection. The dataset is developed based on the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset based on Google Earth images (2015), combined with related maps. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 17 data files with data size of 21.3 MB (compressed to two data files with 8.90 MB).
