Abstract:
Tongatapu Group is the southernmost archipelago of the kingdom of Tonga, in the Oceania and western of South Pacific. The geo-location is between 21°01′14″S and 21°20′56″S, 174°54′02″W and 176°13′06″W. It consists of 39 islands, they are Tongatapu Island, Eua Island, Nukunukumotu Island, Euaiki Island, Atata Island, Kanatea Island, Onevai Island, Ata Island, Fukave Island, Pangaimotu Island, Motutapu Island, Fafa Island, Talakite Island, Nuku Island, Mo'ungatapu Island, Oneata Island, Tufaka Island, Mata'aho Island, Makaha'a Island, Onevao Island, Manima Island, Monuafe Island, Malinoa Island, Polo'a Island, Tau Island, etc. The area of the minimum island is 319 m², and the largest one is the Tongatapu Island with 270.23 km². The total area of the Tongatapu Group is 369.48 km² based on the Albers projection, and the perimeter of the islands is 256.95 km based on the Lambert projection. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images around 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 16 data files with data size of 794 KB (compressed into 2 files with 533 KB).
