Abstract:

Guizhou Province, one of provinces in Southwest China, geolocates between 100°25′E to 101°31′E and 21°27′ N to 22°36′ N. Its souround neighbors are Sichuan and Yunnan, Provinces Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Chongqing municipality. Guizhou province is an important mineral region in China. Therefore, mineral land and ore mining land are playing major roles in land cover classification for Guizhou province. Based on the open air land identification, the 1084 surface mining and quarry mining land were identified by Google Earth and Quickbird high-resolution remote sensing images in 2015, including mining area, mining construction area, transfer field, dump land and tailing land. Integrating the remote sensing image classification system and the in situ data, Mineral land cover classification dataset of Guizhou Province in 2015 was developed. The dataset indicates that the total area of the mineral land in Guizhou Province is 90.96 km2, which are mostly distributed in wwst part the province. The average area of each mineral land is 0.08 km2. The dataset is archived in both .kmz or .shp formats with the data size of 2.57 MB.
