Abstract:

Studying the heat use efficiency of wheat-maize rotation system and its increasing potential in Henan province is of vital importance to the adaptation of crop production in Henan province, North China Plain. The dataset of effective accumulated temperature, heat use efficiency and trend in the wheat-maize rotation system in Henan, China (1981-2014) was developed using the statistical methods including regression analysis and significance test with Matlab tool, and spatial interpolation method based on the meteorological data (daily average temperature) and agro-meteorological data including actual sowing date, maturity date and yield of wheat and maize at 17 sites in Henan province from 1981 to 2014. The results showed that there was a high gap between potential and actual effective accumulated temperature of wheat-maize rotation system in the northern and eastern of Henan province, while heat use efficiency in the northern and eastern Henan province was higher than that in the southern and western. The dataset include spatial data and table data. The spatial data includes: planting area of wheat-maize rotation system and distribution of 17 study sites in Henan Province; spatial distribution of effective accumulated temperature and heat use efficiency of wheat-maize rotation system; spatial change trend of effective accumulated temperature and heat use efficiency of wheat-maize rotation system from 1981 to 2014. The table data includes: the effective accumulated temperature required in the growth period of 64 kinds of wheats and 67 kinds of corns in the planting area; the actual growth period and length, effective accumulated temperature and its trend, heat utilization efficiency and its trend of the wheat, corn and wheat-maize rotation system at the sites. The dataset was archived in .xlsx, .shp and .tif data formats, and composed of 56 data files with data size of 4.26 MB (compressed to one file with 1.40 MB).
