Abstract：
Taiwan Island, the largest island in Chinese, is located between the Taiwan Straits on the eastern and the sea of Philippines on the west. The island is geographically from 25°18′N in North to 21°54′N in South, and from 122°0′E from East and to 120°02′E to West. The total area of the island is 35984 km², the coast line is 2101 km long. The location of the Island is very important in geography; it is part of the Pacific Islands Chain, together with the Kuril Islands, Japan islands, Ryukyu Islands, and the Philippines Islands. The Taiwan Island is occupied by the Center Mountains. The Yushan, the summit of the Island and 3952 m above sea level, is the highest mountain in Eastern of China. By the extrusion from the Eurasian and the Philippines plates in geology, the Deep distance between the Yushan and the Philippines trench is 9833 m within 250 km in horizontal distance, which is the deepest one in the world within 250 km. Taiwan Island is also one of the frequency earthquakes regions in the world. The Tropic of Cancer passes across the island. It is divided into two difference geo-eco-regions, one is the East Asia Summer Monsoon region and the other one is the Asia Humid and Sub-humid tropical region. The mountain vertical belts, from the coast to the top of the mountain, change from the tropical rain forest to the evergreen broad-leaved forest, needle and broad-leaved mixed forest, coniferous forest, and the alpine meadow belt in differences. The boundary dataset of Taiwan Island has been developed based on the Google Earth imageries in 2015, and archived in both .kmz and .shp data formats.
