Abstract:

Due to the relocation of meteorological stations, the long-term meteorological observation data are inhomogeneous. This may cause the deviations for estimating the long-term trends and extreme climate events, and even conceals the real climate change. Based on daily maximum and minimum temperature dataset observed by the China Meteorological Administration at Xi’an and Jinghe stations during 1960-2015, referring observational temperature data at Weinan and Pucheng stations, the series of Xi’an exhibiting breakpoints was adjusted using RH test software. Then the extreme temperature dataset was obtained by calculating 16 extreme temperature indexes, which could be classified into four categories: absolute indices (summer days (SU), tropical days (TR), ice days (ID), frost days (FD)); relative indices (warm days (TX90), cold days (TX10), warm nights (TN90), cold nights (TN10)); extreme indices (maximum of the highest temperature (TXx), minimum of the highest temperature (TXn), maximum of the lowest temperature (TNx), minimum of the lowest temperature (TNn)) and durative indices (warm spell duration index (WSDI), cold spell duration index (CSDI), growing season length (GSL), diurnal temperature range (DTR)). The Homogenized Extreme Temperature and Indexes Dataset in Xi’an Station, China (1960 – 2015) is consisted of: (1) Geo-location of Xi’an, Jinghe and their adjacent stations; (2) Yearly extreme temperature in situ data in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (3) Yearly adjusted extreme temperature data in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (4) Yearly absolute indices data of in situ extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (5) Yearly absolute indices data of adjusted extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (6) Yearly relative indices data of in situ extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (7) Yearly relative indices data of adjusted extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (8) Yearly extremal indices data of in situ extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (9) Yearly extremal indices data of adjusted extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (10) Yearly durative indices data of in situ extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015; (11) Yearly durative indices data of adjusted extreme temperature events in Xi'an during 1960-2015.
