Abstract:
The coastal area of China is a region with large population density, rapid urbanization and economic development, meanwhile, nature disasters are frequent and ecological environmental is very fragile in this region. Consequently, the coastal area of China is highly vulnerable to climate change. Based on the daily maximum and minimum temperature dataset from 1961 to 2014 from 156 metrological stations, 16 extreme temperature factors were calculated using RClimDex model, and Inverse Distance Weight interpolation method was utilized to produce the grid dataset of 16 extreme temperature factors in terms of multi-year mean values and inter-annual magnitudes in the coastal area of China from 1961 to 2014. The 16 extreme temperature factors are cool days (TX10p), cool nights (TN10p), warm days (TX90p), warm nights (TN90p), frost days (FD0), ice days (ID0), summer days (SU25), tropical nights (TR20), maximum value of daily maximum temperature (TXx), maximum value of daily minimum temperature (TNx), minimum value of daily maximum temperature (TXn), minimum value of daily minimum temperature (TNn), warm spell duration index (WSDI), cold spell duration index (CSDI), growing season length (GSL), and diurnal temperature range (DTR), respectively. The dataset includes: (1) grid data of mean values in 16 extreme temperature indices in the coastal area of China during 1961 to 2014; (2) grid data of inter-annual magnitudes in 16 extreme temperature factors in the coastal area of China during 1961 to 2014. The spatial resolution is 8.934 km. The dataset is consisted of 32 group files (128 data files in total), which is archived in .tif format with data size of 12.5 MB (compressed to one single file with data size of 2.15 MB). The analysis paper based on this dataset was published at the Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 37, No. 21, 2017.
