Abstract:
Gahai Lake is located at the northeast corner of Qaidam Basin in the northeast of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. It is an inland saline water lake in Qinghai Province, China. The geo-location of the lake is from 37°05′58″N to 37°10′00″N and from 97°31′05″E to 97°35′47″E. The Zongwulong Mountain is in the north of Gahai Lake, while Maoniu Mountain and Nanshan Mountain are in the south of the lake. The west of the lake is connected with the intermittent rivers of Kokuke Lake and Tosu Lake, and the east is connected with the Keke Salt Lake. The water surface area is 33.46 km² in 2015, and the lake shore line is 28.20 km. The lake is in desert and semi-desert arid climate with annual average temperature of 3.8 ℃, annual average precipitation of 120 mm, and annual average evaporation of 2240 mm. There is no perennial surface runoff recharge, mainly seasonal precipitation and groundwater diving. The Bayingol River is the only seasonal recharge runoff in peak flood season. The Gahai Lake is one of the lakes where Artemia, called "soft gold", is abundant as an important food for aquaculture. The dataset is developed based on Google Earth images (2015) and referenced maps. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files, archived in both .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 374 KB (compressed to 146 KB in two files).
