Abstract:

The aerosol hygroscopicity impacts weather and human health by affecting air visibility and aerosol activation characteristics. In the winter (November 16 - December 10, 2016) and summer (May 25 - June 17, 2017), the in situ data was obtained by comprehensive aerosol observations in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Beijing Observation Station. The station is located at 4 m high above the ground (39.97° N, 116.37°E, 49 m a.s.l). The probability density function of growth factor (Gf-PDFs) for size-resolved particles were measured with an Hygroscopic Tandem Differential Mobility Analyzer (H-TDMA) and chemical compositions of fine particles were observed with an High-resolution Time-of-Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS). The dataset includes: (1) summer (2017) data, including: 1) time series data of bulk mass concentration of the chemical compositions, including data on mass concentration of Black carbon (BC), Cl-, SO42-, NO3-, NH4 , organics, primary organic aerosol (POA), and secondary organic aerosol (SOA) (Table 1); 2) probability density function of growth factor (Gf-PDFs) for 40, 80, 110, 150 and 200 nm particles data (Table 2 – Table 6); (2) winter (2016) data, including: 1) time series data of bulk mass concentration of the chemical compositions in Beijing, including mass concentration of BC, Cl-, SO42-, NO3-, NH4 , organics, POA, and SOA (Table 7); 2) Gf-PDFs for 40, 80, 110, 150 and 200 nm particles data (Table 8 – Table 12). The dataset is archived in .xlsx data format and consists of one single data file with data size of 37.0 MB.
