Abstract:
Belitung Island, also spelled Belitoeng or Belitong or Billiton, is located at northwest of Java Sea, between Sumatra Island and Kalimantan Island. It is 87.50 km from Bangka Island in its west, and 207.57 km from the Kalimantan Island in its northeast. The Belitung Island belongs to the Bangka-Belitung province of the Republic of Indonesia. Its geo-location is between 3°16′21″S and 2°31′36″N, 107°31′39″E and 108°17'55″E. Tanjung Pandan is on the west coast of the island, with an airport on the east. The total area of Belitung Island calculated based on the Albers projection is 4605.11 km², and the coastline calculated based on the Lambert projection is 730.30 km long. The dataset is based on the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset based on Google Earth images (2015), combined with maps of Indonesia. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 25 data files with data size of 6.98 MB (compressed to three data files with 2.91 MB).
