Abstract:
Vava’u Group is the northern archipelago of the kingdom of Tonga, in the Oceania and western of South Pacific. The geo-location is between 18°00′43″S and 19°10′46″S,173°54′08″W and 174°51′02″W. It consists of 131 islands, they are Vava'u Island, Pangaimotu Island, Kapa Island, Hunga Island, Nuapapu Island, Koloa Island, Ovaka Island, Ofu Island, etc. The area of the minimum island is 96 m², and the largest one is the Vava’u Island with 97.64 km². The total area of the Vava’u Group is 163.70 km² based on the Albers projection, and the perimeter of the islands is 368.27 km. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images around 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 17 data files with data size of 1.98 MB (compressed into 2 files with 1.31 MB).
