Abstract:
The Madeira Islands is located in the northeastern part of Atlantic Ocean. It is 634 km from the African continent, and 792 km from the European continent. It belongs to Portugal, and the geo-location is between 32°24′14″N and 33°07′41″N, 16°16′38″W and 17°15′57″W. The Madeira Islands consists of 81 islands, including Madeira Island, Porto Santo Island, and Desertas Islands etc. The smallest island has an area of 26 m², and the largest island is Madeira Island with an area of 742.30 km². The total area of the Madeira Islands is 799.56 km², and the length of the coastline is 314.50 km. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images around 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 17 data files with data size of 1.68 MB (compressed into 2 files with 1.13 MB).
