Abstract:

Yarkand River System are the 37 rivers that maintain the Yarkand Oasis including Yarkand, Tiznafu, Keleqing, Taxkorgan, Kokya, Uruk and Qipanhe rivers, etc. Their main stream lengths are 1,273.80 km (Yarkant), 326.59 km (Tiznafu), 239.01 km (Keleqing), 191.38 km (Taxkorgan), 185.38 km (Kokya), 144.69 km (Uruk), 98.70 km (Qipanhe), respectively. The mountainous Part of the Yarkand Rivers Catchment is the mountainous catchment area of the Yarkant River and its upstream tributaries. The catchment is a transnational basin with about 96.40% of the total basin area in China (within the Kashgar Administration Region and Tumushuke of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region) and about 3.57% in Pakistan. The geolocation of the mountainous Yarkant Basin of is between 35°27'33"N and 38°19'16"N, 74°26'53"E and 78°23'60"E. The basin area is 56,223.00 km² (Albers projection) and its perimeter is 1,759.07 km (Lambert projection). The elevation classification data was classified into 16 types. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images, ASTER GDEM 30 m and in situ data. The dataset is consisted of: (1) river system of Yarkand River; (2) boundary data of the mountainous part of the Yarkand River Catchment; (3) elevation classification data of the mountainous part of the Yarkand River Catchment. The dataset is archived in .kmz, .shp and .tif data formats, and consists of 33 data files with data size of 225 MB (compressed to 3 files with 27.6 MB).
