Abstract:

The typical drought event that occurred in the Southeast America from February to December in 2007 was recognized based on the standard precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI). Five drought levels by thresholds and calculated the drought severity index, they are: very severe drought, severe drought, moderate drought, light drought, no drought. In order to measure the extent of vegetation affected by drought, the LAI anomalies and FAPAR anomalies from February to December in 2007 were calculated using the multi-year (2001~2015) average LAI and FAPAR from February to December. Then the dataset of drought degree and its impacts on vegetation in the Southeast America from February to December in 2007 were identified. The Drought Degree and Its Impacts on Vegetation Dataset in the Southeast America (2007) includes: (1) the border file of the study area (2) the drought severity index based on SPEI from February to December in 2007 (3) the monthly drought degree data from February to December in 2007 (4) the LAI anomalies data and the accumulations of LAI anomalies during this periods (5) the FAPAR anomalies data and the accumulations of FAPAR anomalies data. The data results indicate that: the area with the LAI anomalies and FAPAR anomalies less than 0 is the severe drought area; compared with the forests, the LAI and FAPAR anomalies of grasslands are much smaller, that means that the response of different vegetation to the drought is diverse. The dataset was archived in .tif and .shp data formats. The dataset is consisted of 46 data files which are archived in .tif and .shp data formats. The data size is 343 MB (69.7 MB in compressed).
