Abstract:

The model of ocean primary productivity (ABPM) is integrated with the MODIS data (phytoplankton absorption coefficient, euphotic depth, diffuse attenuation coefficient at 490nm and photosynthetic available radiation) from 2003 to 2012 to conduct the Monthly Datasets of Global Marine NPP in 9 km resolution. To validate and evaluate how this methodology and the data products could be used. The in-situ data from three fixed sites and three on-deck monitoring sites have been selected. The three fixed sites are: Hawaii (USA), Bermuda(Atlantic), California(USA). The three on-deck monitoring sites are: Atmospheric Dynamics and Fluxes in the Mediterranean Sea (DYFAMED), Antarctic Marine Living Resources Program (AMLR), and Antarctic Marine Living Resources Program (AMLR).The comparison analysis results indicated that the accuracy of Global Marine NPP Data, which were calculated on the basis of ABPM, is higher than other two models. The size of the datasets is 398MB, with the compressed .hdf data format. Those data can be used as the reference data for global carbon cycle, climate change studies.Browse
