Abstract：
Algeria, as the largest country in Africa, selected figs as FAO OCOP national product of Algeria. The fig production of Algeria is ranking the third in the world. Due to pressures from climate change, including reduced rainfall, rising temperatures, and increased water demand, the Algerian government is undergoing a transformation of its food and agricultural system. Through OCOP, the country is strengthening farmer’s cooperation, promoting innovation in cultivation and storage, supporting agro-industries, and developing geographic indication that makes Algerian fig ambassadors of countries’ excellence. Cooperation with Italy, the Algeria's agricultural transformation and the implementation of OCOP initiative, particularly in the Sahara region, has achieved encouraging progress.
