Abstract:

The in situ dataset from 902 sites of land cover types in Central Asia (2013-2018) comprises land cover field survey data collected across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan during 2013-2014, together with farmland soil and surface environmental survey data acquired from the middle and lower reaches of the Syr Darya and Amu Darya Rivers Basins during 2017-2018. Field surveys were conducted using the Global Positioning System (GPS) for geo-referencing, ensuring the consistency of land cover types within an area of approximately 1 km² surrounding each site. The dataset includes: (1) geo-locations of 902 sample sites, (2) 3,120 field photographs, and (3) detailed survey records, including land cover type, vegetation type and coverage, topographic and geomorphological characteristics, soil color, soil texture, and photograph ID etc. The dataset is archived in .shp, .jpg, .xlsx, and .docx data formats, and consists of 3,166 data files with data size of 11.9 GB (compressed into 9 data files, 11.9 GB).
