Abstract:

The exorheic area of Mu Us sandy fields include Wuding River, Jialu River, Tuwei River and Kushui River. Based on Sentinel-2 images from August 2021 and 2020 and 30 m COPDEM data, the authors extracted the rivers in Mu Us sandy land by remote sensing stream burning method, and delimited the boundary of water erosion in sandy land in each basin combining Google Earth images. Based on the 1-km monthly precipitation dataset (1901-2022) and the 1-km monthly potential evapotranspiration dataset (1901-2022) of China, the annual mean surface water erosion in Mu Us sandy land during 1992-2021 was estimated using the coupled water-energy balance equation based on the Budyko hypothesis. The dataset includes: (1) river system; (2) river length attribute data of different grades in each basin; (3) boundary data of water erosion of sandy land in watershed, including input area boundary and output area boundary; (4) annual mean of soil erosion. The dataset is archived in .shp and .xlsx formats, and consists of 41 data files with data size of 1.16 MB (Compressed into one file with 786 KB). The paper based on this dataset was published at Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol. 79, No. 3, 2024.
