Abstract:
Fractional Vegetation Cover (FVC) is defined as the ratio or percentage of the vertical projected area of vegetation leaves, stems, and branches on the ground relative to the total area of the statistical area. Based on the Google Earth Engine cloud platform, using the long-term series Landsat-8 normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) dataset, we combined the maximum composite method (MVC) and Dimidiate Pixel Model to produce the annual maximum FVC dataset at 30m resolution within 10 km buffer area along the Angren-Papu railway, Uzbekistan in 2017. The study area of the dataset is 40°47′05″N - 41°12′35″N, 70°1′24″E – 71°10′51″E. The data value ranges between 0 and 1, in which, 0 means no vegetation coverage and 1 means full of vegetation. The dataset shows that FVC over 0.6 within the area merely accounts for 34.85% of the total area, which is closely related to the drought climate characteristics locally. The data is archived in .tif data format in 30 m pixels with data size of 29.7 MB in three files (Compressed to one single file with data size of 6.98 MB). The research report based on the dataset was published at http://www.chinageoss.org.
