Abstract:

The fractional vegetation cover dataset within 10 km buffer area along Moscow-Kazan high speed railway, Russia (2017) covers area from 40°47′05″N to 41°12′35″N, 70°1′24″E to 71°10′51″E. Based on the Google Earth Engine cloud platform, using the long-term series Landsat-8 normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) dataset, we combined the maximum composite method (MVC) and Dimidiate Pixel Model to produce the annual maximum FVC dataset at 30m resolution within 10 km buffer area along the Moscow-Kazan high speed railway, Russia in 2017. The data value ranges between 0 and 1, in which, 0 means no vegetation coverage and 1 means full of vegetation. The dataset shows that the overall vegetation coverage is high, the FVC is mainly in the range of 0.6-0.8, accounting for 64.37% of the total area; the FVC more than 0.8 within the study area accounts for 20.21%; the FVC less than 0.6 accounting for 15.42% of the total area. The dataset is archived in .tif data format at 30 m resolution, consisted of three files with data size of 533 MB in three files (Compressed to one single file with data size of 114 MB). The report based on the dataset was Global ecosystems and environment observation analysis research cooperation: regional ecosystem trends along the Belt and Road.
