Abstract:

Fraction of Vegetation Coverage (FVC) is a significant ecological monitoring indicator, which can effectively reflect the impact of engineering construction on local vegetation ecosystem. The fractional vegetation cover dataset at 30 m resolution within 10 km buffer area along Kosekoy-Inonu high speed railway, Turkey (2017) is developed, covering an area of 39°44'49"N~40°50'52"N, 29°51'42"E~30°29'38"E. Firstly, the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) spatial data was obtained based on the Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) remote sensing image and the data processing function of the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud platform. Then, the FVC dataset was calculated by using the Maximum Composite Method and Dimidiate Pixel Model based on NDVI. The data value ranges between 0 and 1, in which, 0 means no vegetation coverage and 1 means full of vegetation. The result shows that the FVC is mainly in the range of 0.8~1, accounting for 32.82% of the total area. The FVC ranging of 0.6~0.8 accounts for 29.52% of the total. The FVC ranging of 0.4-0.6 accounts for 22.92%. The FVC less than 0.4 accounts for 14.73%. The data is archived in .tif data format at 30 m resolution with data size of 40.8 MB in three files (Compressed to one single file with data size of 16.3 MB). The report based on the dataset was Global ecosystems and environment observation analysis research cooperation: regional ecosystem trends along the Belt and Road.
