Abstract:
Forests play an important role in global carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation strategies because they are the main component of a terrestrial ecosystem. Based on the forest inventory data during 2004−2008 and 2009−2013 in Shandong Province, and the updated biomass-volume relationship retrieved from field measurements by Zhang, et al.(2013), the forest biomass carbon stocks and the economic value in Shandong from 2004 to 2013 were estimated using the continuous biomass expansion factor method. Then the forest biomass carbon stocks and sink economic value estimating dataset in Shandong Province, China (2004-2013) was developed. The result shows that about 97.3% and 2.7% of the biomass carbon sink were contributed by planted and natural forests, respectively. The datasets include four tables of Shandong Province during 2004-2013: (1) Biomass carbon stock and carbon sink for planted and natural forests; (2) Biomass carbon stock and carbon sink for different forest types; (3) Area, biomass carbon stock, and carbon density of forest in different age groups; (4) Carbon sink economic value of different forest types. The dataset is archived in one Excel file (.xlsx data format) with data size of 18.9 KB. The analysis paper based on this dataset was published in the journal of Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 38, No.5, 2018.
