Abstract:
The Pukapuka Atoll is located at the most west of the Northern Cook Islands. Its geolocation is between 165°49′50″W and 165°52′44″W, 10°50′43″S and 10°54′58″S. The area of the Pukapuka Atoll is 4.32 km², and the coastline is 23.49 km long. The Pukapuka Atol is a coral atoll, located at the top of a submarine volcano over 4,000 meters below sea level on the Pacific Ridge. There is a lagoon 6.5 km long from north to south and 2.3 km wide from east to west, surrounding by a series of islands and islets. Among them, three of them are bigger, which shaped a triangle, the biggest islet is Motu Ko with an area of 1.87 km², which is located in the southeast of the Pukapuka Atoll. The administrative council and the Pukapuka airport are located at the Motu Ko. The other two islets are Pukapuka (Wale) islet in northern and Motu Kotawa in southwest. There are seven motus in the eastern rim of the atoll. They are: Nalawa, Teuyiki, Mako, Te Aua Loa, Te Aua Oneone, Te Papa e Taumaya te Wau, Nuku Wetau. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files and archived in the .kmz and shp data format with the data size of 212 KB (Compressed to 90.9 KB in two files).
