Abstract:

From May 2015 to April 2017, seventeen sample plots were selected as the in situ data collection places in Yimeng Mt. Feixian County, Shandong Province, China. In the plots, six of them were in Pinus thunbergii Parl. plantations, five were in Quercus variabilis Bl. Plantations, and six in natural secondary forest with dominant species composed of Q. acutissima Carruth., Pinus thunbergii Parl., P. densiflora Sieb. et Zucc., and Quercus variabilis Bl.. The Monthly components and dry weight of litterfall in three forest types were obtained to put into the in situ dataset of monthly litterfall in the forests of Pinus thunbergii Parl., Quercus variabilis Bl. and natural secondary forest in the Yimeng Mt., China (201505 - 201704). The dataset is consisted of: (1) the geo-location of sample sites (.shp, .kmz); (2) monthly litterfall in three forest types from May 2015 to April 2017 (.xlsx); (3) monthly litterfall components, including needle leaf litterfall, broad leaf litterfall, fruit litterfall, branch litterfall, and other litterfall, in three forest types from May 2015 to April 2017 (.xlsx). The data indicated that the monthly dynamics of overall litterfall in the three forest types all had a two-peak curve, with the higher peak occurring between October and November and the lower peak appearing between April and May. The dataset is archived in .shp, .kmz and .xlsx data formats, consists of 8 data files with data size of 41.6 KB (Compressed to two data files with data size of 33.3 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at the journal of Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol.38, No.18, 2018.
