Abstract:

Hoh Xil Lake, an inland plateau brackish water lake, is located in western Qinghai Province, hinterland of Hoh Xili on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Its geo-location is 35°29′50″N - 35°40′18″N,90°51′46″E - 91°21′4″E. The lake is higher in the southeast and lower in the northwest, which is formed by the continental rift between Kunlun Mountains and Hoh Xili Mountains. The lake shore is winding around, with many peninsulas, splits, and heads. The area of Hoh Xil Lake is 350.85 km², and its shoreline is 244.12 km. There are 19 islands in the lake. Among them, the largest island has an area of 0.74 km² and the shoreline of 4.24 km, while the smallest island has an area of 2,881.94 m² and the shoreline of 0.21 km. The lake is in the semi-arid area of alpine steppe, with annual average temperature of -4--2 ℃ and annual precipitation of about 200 mm. The water supply mainly depends on the glacial melting water. There are two surface runoffs flowing directly into the lake. Among them, the Lengshui River from Hantai Mountain in Hoh Xili is the larger one, while the unknown seasonal river from Malan Snow Mountain is the smaller one. The dataset is developed based on Google Earth (2015) and related maps. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, it is consisted of 22 data files with data size of 1.17 MB (Compressed to two data files with data size of 1.17 MB).
