Abstract:

Zhonggou river basin was chosen as a typical small watershed of Longdong Loess hilly-gully region of the Loess Plateau of China. Ten plots of forest land samples and three sample plots of grassland were set up in the robinia pseudoacacia planted in mid 1970s and natural recovery grassland according to the changes of vegetation type, forest age and site characteristics. The soil moisture of all samples was measured by drying method and Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR). The maximum depth of soil moisture measurement pipe is 3 meters, and the maximum depth of soil drill is 2 meters. The soil moisture dataset in the Zhonggou River Basin on the Loess Plateau of Gansu Province was obtained by in situ observation in the growing season (from April to October) of 2018. The dataset consists of three parts: (1) geographical information on 13 sample plots of Zhonggou river basin, including geolocation, topographic data, forest age, density, DBH and other main stand structure data;( 2) soil water content data at 0-120 cm depth in 13 sample plots; (3) soil water content data at 0-300cm depth in 13 samples plots using TDR. The dataset was archived in .xlsx, .shp and .kmz data format with data size of 252 KB in 9 data files (Compressed to 238 KB in 2 data file). The analysis paper based on part of the dataset has been published at the Journal of Arid Zone Research, Vol.36, No.5, 2019.
