Abstract:

The Lake Yamzhog Yumco is the largest closed inland lake in southern Tibetan Plateau. In July 2013, a series of 50-cm sediment cores were recovered with a Russian drill corer from the northwestern basin of the Lake Yamzhog Yumco. The data of elemental geochemistry was acquired using an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) core scanner, which was used for in situ, high-resolution, continuous, multi-element analyses. The magnetic susceptibility was obtained using MS2C Magnetic susceptibility meter. Multivariate numerical analyses (DA and PCA) were used to enable the reconstruction of the environmental changes in the southern Tibetan Plateau over the past 2000 years. The dataset includes the intensity of Al, Si, K, Ca, Ti, Fe, Cu, Zn, Br, Rb, Sr, Y, Pb and magnetic susceptibility by every 0.5 cm depth. The dataset is archived in one data file (.xlsx format) with data size of 23 KB. The result shows that the climate records from Lake Yamzhog Yumco have confirmed a cold-moist / warm-dry climate pattern on the southern Tibetan Plateau over the past 2000 years. The analysis paper based on this dataset was published in Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol.74, No.7, 2019.Browse
