Abstract:

Wales Island is part of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and located in the southeastern part of the Gulf of Boothia in the Arctic Ocean. It is only 1.6 km separated from Melville Peninsula in the east. The geo-location of the Wales Island is between 67°43'28"N and 68°18'24"N, 86°20'38"W and 86°59'12"W. It belongs to Nunavut region of Canada. The total area of the Wales Island is 1190.12 km² based on the Albers projection, and the coastline is 194.66 km based on the Lambert projection. The dataset is developed based on the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset based on Google Earth images (2015), combined with maps of Canada. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 15 data files with data size of 241 KB (compressed to two data files with 164 KB).
