Abstract:
Ha’apai Group is the middle archipelago of the kingdom of Tonga, in the Oceania and western of South Pacific. The geo-location is between 19°35′33″S and 20°33′19″S,175°15′54″W and 175°24′29″W. It consists of 63 islands, they are Tofua Island, Foa Island, Lifuka Island, Kao Island, Nomuka Island, Ha'ano Island, Uiha Island, Uoleva Island, Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai Island, Ha'afeva Island, Tungua Island, Lofanga Island, Mo'unga'one Island, Fotuha'a Island, 'O'ua Island, Ofolanga Island, Mango Island, Nomuka'iki Island, Uonukuhihifo Island, Telekitonga Island, Kotu Island, Fonoifua Island, Miniva Island, etc. The area of the minimum island is 405 m², and the largest one is the Tofua Island with 54.19 km². The total area of the Ha’apai Group is 135.68 km², and the perimeter of the islands is 256.02 km based on the Albers projection. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images around 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 17 data files with data size of 1.29 MB (compressed into 2 files with 884 KB).
