Abstract:

The are six land cover types in the Tarim River Basin, China, They are Populus euphratica woodlands, Tamarix thicket, grassland, farmland, bare land and water body. Based on the Landsat-8 images in June and July 2013 from USGS and 1024 sample data in Tarim River, China, in which, 75 for grassland, 688 for Populus euphratica, 14 for farmland, 164 for bareland, 317 for Tamarix thickets and 66 for water bodies, the land cover data in the Low Tarim River Basin, China was developed with the land cover classification models. Besides, using the Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Vegetation Index (VI) model and the field surveying data of sample data on LAI, the Populus euphratica woodlands and the Tamarix thicket distribution data in the Low Tarim River Basin, China were developed. And then, the total areas of Populus euphratica woodlands and Tamarix thicket in different LAI and distances of the Populus euphratica woodlands, Tamarix thicket from the center of the Tarim River were calculated. 5 data files are included in the VegeDataTarimRiverBasin2013 dataset, they are: 1024 local sample records data file(.shp),land cover data file in the Low Tarim River Basin(.shp),the Populus euphratica woodlands and Tamarix thicket LAI data file(.hdf),total areas of Populus euphratica woodlands and the Tamarix thicket distribution in different LAI,and the distance data file on Populus euphratica woodlands and the Tamarix thicket LAI from the center of the Tarim River. The data analysis paper and discoveries had been published at the Chinese Journal of Plant Ecology, No. 11, Vo. 39, 2015. The compressed data size is 7.06MB
