Abstract:
Inner Mongolia cattle-grazing experiment is conducted in National Hulunbeir Grassland Ecosystem Observation and Research Station (NHGEORS, 49°19′N - 49°20′N, E119°56′E - 119°57′E). The cattle-grazing experiment plot has an area of 1 km². Across the plot, elevation varies from 666 m to 680 m. The climate is temperate semi-arid continental, with an annual average of 110 frost-free days. Annual mean precipitation ranges from 350 mm to 400 mm, approximately 80% of which falls between July and September. The vegetation is characterized as typical meadow steppe. The grazing platform facilities have six stocking rates, which were established in 2009. Each stocking rate has three replicates. The six stocking rates are marked as 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. These represent the grazing of 0, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 heads of 250-300 kg young cattle in each replicate subplot of the six stocking rate treatments, respectively. Grazing activities last for 120 days (between June and October) annually (since 2009). Field measurement was carried out and the plants were dried in an oven to capture vegetation fractional cover, canopy height, and biomass from 3 to 4 September 2015. In August 2015, Lidar survey was flown to capture the UAV Lidar retrieval dataset of cattle grazing experiment in Hulunbeir grassland, Inner Mongolia of China. The dataset includes: (1) The boundary and general situation of the experiment platform; (2) Ninety quadrats data, including the location, vegetation fractional cover, canopy height, and biomass; (3) Lidar-derived aboveground biomass, vegetation fractional cover, mean canopy height maps. The dataset is archived in both .shp, .tif and .xls formats, and consists of 23 data files with data size of 1.98 GB (Compressed into one file with 58.5 MB).
