Abstract:
In order to calculate the dynamics of recalcitrant components during foliar litter decomposition at different forest gap size in Pinus massoniana plantation in the low hilly land, Sichuan basin of China, seven gap sizes were selected for the sample places, they are: G1 for 100 m2, G2 for 225 m2, G3 for 400 m2, G4 for 625 m2, G5 for 900 m2, G6 for 1 225 m2 and G7 for 1 600 m2. At the same time, a standard forest land nearby was selected as the comparison plot, which is full of Pinus massoniana. The litter bags with air-dried leaves of C. camphora and T. ciliata were placed at center and edge of the gaps and under the closed canopy in November 2013. After 30 days, 90 days, 180 days and 270 days, the bags were collected. Based on the standard pre-control of these leaves, the contents of four recalcitrant components, including condensed tannins, total phenol, lignin and cellulose for the two native species (Cinnamomum camphora and Toona ciliata) were calculated. The dataset consisted of not only the contents of the four recalcitrant components of C. camphora and T. ciliate in center and edge of the gaps and under the closed canopy in 30 days, 90 days, 180 days and 270 days, but also the average temperature in litterbags for each sampling plot of each days from Nov. 18, 2013 to August 17, 2014. The data are archived in .xlsx format, data size is 55kb. The analysis paper of these data was published at the Chinese Journal of Plant Ecology, No. 8, Vol. 39.
