Abstract:
Chinese films whose revenue accounted for over 75% of value of the total box office revenue during the period 2003-2019 were selected as research samples. Then, the list of film presentation, production and distribution companies were collected mainly from MaoYan Professional and TianYanCha. Based on film industry chains, the authors explored the functional differentiation of urban cross-scale networks encompassing the levels of local, national, and global significance, and measured the cross-scale functional correlation index under urban functional types and industrial chain. Then the evolution dataset of urban cross-scale network function differentiation and correlation effect based on division of film industry chain was developed. This dataset include: (1) sample films’ enterprise directory and the film-city matrix of presentation, production and distribution segment from 2003 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2019; (2) cities’ multi-scale function and industrial chain function from 2003 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2019; (3) the input data and detection results of the cross-scale functional correlation index by Geodetector from 2003 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2019. The dataset is archived in .xlsx format, and consists of three data files with 800 KB (Compressed into one file with 650 KB). The paper based on this dataset will be published in Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol. 78, No. 10, 2023.
