Abstract:

Based on national and provincial panel data from 2000 to 2020, the authors analyzed the spatial-temporal pattern of the sown area of succulence and the forage supply and demand from 2000 to 2020. Combined with NPP data from MOD17A3HGF V6 and China grassland resources map (1: 1,000,000), the national and regional scale of forage production of natural grasslands, crop straws, and forage demand from 2000 to 2020 were estimated referring to the industry standard "Calculation of Reasonable Livestock Carrying Capacity of Natural grassland (NY/T 635-2015)". The dataset includes: (1) the annual data of forage production of natural grasslands, crop straws and forage demand at national and regional scale from 2000 to 2020; (2) two process tables, they are: (a) the sown area of succulence at national and provincial scales in 2020 and its proportion in the sown area of crops; (b) annual data of the sown area of succulence at national and provincial scales from 2000 to 2020. The dataset is archived in .xlsx format, and consists of one file with data size of 24.8 KB. A research paper based on the dataset will be published at Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol. 79, No. 7, 2024.
