Abstract:

Arctic sea ice has been retreating rapidly in most decades. Based on sea ice concentration data from the SMMR,DMSP,SSMI, SSMIS satellitespublished by the National Snow and Ice Data Center of USA(NSIDC),the arctic seasonal sea ice distribution and statistics (less than 15% areas of sea ices was not included) dataset was developed. The dataset includes: (1) Arctic seasonal sea ice statistics data 1979-2012 (ArcticSeasonalSeaIce1979_2012-1), three tables in this data file, Table 1: Arctic seasonal sea ice statistic data in area; Table 2: Arctic seasonal sea ice anomaly statistic data in area; Table 3 Arctic sea ice extent and statistics of MTT (Moving t-test technique) in spring and summer. (2) Arctic regional and seasonal sea ice statistics data 1979-2012 (ArcticSeasonalSeaIce1979_2012-2), four regions are identified, they are: Eastern Hemisphere(0°E-180°E)、western Hemisphere(0°W-180°W)、the Pacific sector(120°E-120°W)and the Atlantic sector(60°W-60°E). Normal and anomaly statistic data of the sea ice in area in each of the four sectors are listed in the tables at the data file ArcticSeasonalSeaIce1979_2012-2 (8 tables). (3) The spatial data of sea ice concentration in Arctic inSeptember 2007 and september 2012(ArcticSeasonalSeaIce1979_2012-3). (4) The spatial data of seasonal Arctic sea ice concentration anomaly in 1979-1988, 1989-1998, 1999-2008, 2009-2012 (ArcticSeasonalSeaIce1979_2012-4). (5) Wavelet analysis data of seasonal Arctic sea ice extent (ArcticSeasonalSeaIce1979_2012-5). The dataset are archived in .xlsx, .shp and .dat formats with the data size 52.9MB. The analysis paper was published in the Chinese Journal of Polar Research, No. 2, Vol.27, 2015.Browse
