Abstract:
The Near Islands is located from 172°27′44.51″E-175°58′28.5″E and 52°20′4.6″N-53°0′42.18″N. The largest island of the Near Islands is Attu Island with area of 887.97 km² and the longest coastline 317.37 km. Besides, there are a few rocks in the channel between Attu and Agattu, there are Semichi Island, Alaid island, Nizki island and Shemya island. The total area of the islands is 1166.83 km², in which, only 6 islands with area great than 1km2, and the total coastline of the Near Islands is 616.05 km. The dataset was developed based on integration among the Google Earth images and related maps and records. The dataset is archived in the .shp and .kmz formats with the compressed data size of 3.30 MB.
